Bandai Namco’s Tales games have largely been single player affairs, but the series has had at least a few multiplayer in most of its instalments for a long time now. With Tales of Arise coming up and with its focus on a story driven by two protagonists, you’d think that the RPG would have some multiplayer elements as well – perhaps some co-op elements – but Bandai Namco has confirmed that this is not going to be the case.
Speaking in a recent interview with IGN, Tales of Arise producer Yusuke Tomizawa confirmed that the upcoming action RPG will be a strictly single player affair, with Bandai Namco choosing to drop multiplayer mechanics and focusing instead on how the two characters will play and interact with each other.
“So this game is really a standalone game where one person really enjoys the drama and the overall story of the game, we don’t really have any plans currently for a multiplayer mode,” Tomizawa said. “But on the other side, we did put a lot of focus on how the characters work together and how they cooperate in the battle and how that plays out in game mechanics.”
Tales of Arise launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 10. You can check out the game’s system requirements through here, or get details on its new and improved combat system through here.
