Tencent Has Acquired a 22% Stake in Bloober Team

The Chinese giant has become the largest stakeholder in the Polish studio, having spent 77.6 million PNL on 22% of its shares.

Chinese tech giant Tencent has its fingers in a lot of pies, and there’s no shortage of investments that it’s made in other developers of games around the world. From stakes in Klei Entertainment and Dontnod Entertainment to capital investment in PlatinumGames to a full acquisition of Sumo Digital, the company has been expanding in all directions. Recently, it purchased a significant chunk of horror developer Bloober Team as well.

It’s been announced that Tencent has spent 77.6 million PNL (which is roughly $19.5 million) to acquire 22% of the Polish developer’s shares through its subsidiary Serene Century Limited. Tencent has now become Bloober Team’s biggest shareholder.

Bloober Team is currently working on a number of new projects. One of these is a new Layers of Fear game, while the other is rumoured to be a Silent Hill title, due to Bloober Team’s strategic corporate agreement with Konami.
