The Callisto Protocol is “Scary, Moody, Creepy, and Uncomfortable”

Striking Distance Studios founder Glen Schofield talks up The Callisto Protocol's lighting, and promises more info "soon".

Made by the people who worked on the Dead Space games and serving as a spiritual successor to the beloved survival horror series, sci-fi horror game The Callisto Protocol has been on many people’s radars since its announcement in December of 2020. Updates on the game have largely dried up since then, but lately, interesting new tidbits on it have been emerging nonetheless.

Recently, for instance, Glen Schofield, founder of developer Striking Distance Studios, took to Twitter to talk up The Callisto Protocol’s lighting, with special praise reserved for members of the development team who have worked on that aspect of the experience, including art director Demetrius Leal and lighting director Atsushi Seo. Lighting is, of course, a crucial part of any horror experience, and Schofield says The Callisto Protocol’s lighting has helped turn it into a “scary, moody, creepy, and uncomfortable” experience.

Additionally, Schofield also says more information on the game will be shared “soon”, echoing similar recent statements. How “soon” soon will be remains to be seen, but with Summer Game Fest set for June 9, many will be hoping that the survival horror game will have a presence at the event.

The Callisto Protocol is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
