Say what you will about Square Enix, the Japanese company’s willingness to keep investing in new, lower-budget games with more experimental styles deserves genuine praise. One such game was announced earlier this year with The DioField Chronicle, a new fantasy real-time tactics RPG, and at the time Square Enix confirmed that it would be out sometime in 2022. Now we know when exactly to expect it.
The DioField Chronicle will launch on September 22, Square Enix has announced, and pre-orders for the game will go live in a few days’ time, on July 7. Better yet, if you’re curious about the game but still somewhat on the fence, you’ll have the chance to try it out before taking the plunge. A demo of the game will go live on all platforms on August 10. It will contain the entire first chapter, which should translate to roughly about an hour of gameplay, and save data from the demo will be transferrable into the full game when it launches.
When it’s out, The DioField Chronicle will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
