The Division 2 – Expansion Leak Details Return to New York

The big upcoming news for Ubisoft's looter shooter has leaked ahead of time.

Ubisoft confirmed yesterday that they’d be revealing major new details about The Division 2 and its future today, which, of course, implies that we’re in line to receive information on the game’s third expansion hours from now. However, as is often the case with big reveals that Ubisoft’s gearing up to make, that information seems to have leaked.

As was hinted at strongly in recent trailer for the third expansion of the looter shooter, the upcoming content drop, titled Warlords of New York, will see players returning to the setting of the first game. This is as per screenshots and information from the expansion pulled from the Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store (via Reddit), which you can view below.

“New York is under threat,” reads the expansion’s description. “Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent turned rogue, has taken control of Lower Manhattan, backed by four devoted and highly skilled lieutenants. Trained by The Division but disavowing its ideals, they are now the highest authority in town and the most formidable force the Agents have ever faced.”

While hunting down Aaron Keener, you will also be free to explore “a new open world in New York”- and if you want to skip straight ahead to what this expansion has in store for you, you can skip straight to level 30 to be able to access its contents. Warlords of New York also brings new tactical options in gears, skills, and exotics, as well as a “revamped progression system” that will kick the player cap up to level 40. Notably, there will also supposedly be “an extended endgame” that will be split across “thematic three-month seasons.”

That sounds like a major, major content drop. From a new campaign and a new map to explore to revamped progression and additional endgame content (which, its seasonal nature would imply, will be supported by Ubisoft for a while)- it definitely seems like Ubisoft are going all in with this expansion. It should be interesting to see how it tackles some of the biggest issues the game has suffered from in its regular post-launch slumps, and how many people it convinces to jump back into The Division 2.

We will be hearing (and probably) seeing more of Warlords of New York in an official capacity later today from Ubisoft, so stay tuned for all updates.
