The Elder Scrolls 6: Bethesda Exec On Why Fallout 4 Came First

Pete Hines is proud of how well Fallout 4 did.

While there is very little doubt that Fallout 4 had a successful launch, there are still fans of Bethesda as a whole that wished they had gotten to see an Elder Scrolls 6 before they had another foray into the post apocalyptic world of where mutants and horrible creatures are the norm. Bethesda exec Pete Hines was on Twitter earlier this week and he answered a couple of questions about why the company released games in the order it did, while also defending those decisions. He also talked about some controversy that has arisen over the DLC plans for Fallout 4.

Hines was specifically asked about why there are some people who are upset about those plans. The exec stated, “people get upset when we stop making/selling DLC for Skyrim. People get upset when we make/sell more DLC for Fallout 4,” he said on Twitter. When the exec was challenged by one user on the issue of people wanting another Elder Scrolls 6 more than they wanted Fallout 4 he said, “we had the biggest launch in company history with Fallout 4. That includes Skyrim. So…no”

It seems Bethesda had a good read on which game was sought after more and that’s why they released and worked on Fallout 4 first. In another tweet, he added that teams at Bethesda are given some freedom when it comes to deciding what to work on. It appears the teams also wanted to finish Fallout 4 first. There is of course, however slim a chance that we might see an announcement of the next Elder Scrolls later this year.
