The Last of Us: Part 2 Composer Says It’s Coming “Very Soon”

Composer Gustavo Santaolalla revealed this during a recent show.

If there’s any game that’s been fairly invisible since last year’s E3, it would be Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Part 2. With Sony having skipped PlayStation Experience 2018, bringing no trailer to The Game Awards 2018, and the publisher not attending E3 2019, there might be some concern about when we’ll hear about it again. According to composer Gustavo Santaolalla however, the game itself is coming “very soon”.

While performing at a show in Kuwait yesterday (captured by Reddit user DragonDDark), Santaolalla talked about performing songs from the first game. He then teased having played a “little bit” of The Last of Us: Part 2, which, according to him, is coming “very soon”. Whether that means a release in 2019 or not is unknown. Time is relative, after all.

However, former IGN editor Alannah Pearce recently revealed that the game would indeed be out in 2019. The tweets have since been deleted and Pearce admitted that she’d been told “multiple times by multiple people”, but things could change, since there hasn’t been public announcement. If Sony indeed holds a show this year – perhaps that rumoured mid-2019 event to reveal the PlayStation 5 – then maybe The Last of Us: Part 2 will be dated there? Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
