Motion and performance capture have become a vital part of the process in game development in recent years, but perhaps that’s truer with games made by Naughty Dog than it is for any others. And it seems like work on that front is progressing nicely on the studio’s upcoming behemoth, The Last of Us Part 2.
Recently, game director Neil Druckmann took to Twitter to confirm that the development team had just finished shooting and recording what will serve as the very last scene in the game- “cut to black” and all. Of course, shooting for scenes rarely ever happens in the order they will chronologically make an appearance, so don’t take this to mean that shooting in general has wrapped up on the game- but it does suggest that some healthy progress is being made.
Recently, veteran actor Laura Bailey also wrapped up her own work on the upcoming title, which would suggest the very same thing. Though Naughty Dog have been reluctant to comment on when we’ll be seeing The Last of Us Part 2 next, rumours and speculation have suggested that it might release as early as this year itself. Nothing’s confirmed yet, so stay tuned for more updates.
