Three years after first revealing the game, and after mounting anticipation and speculation, Sony and Naughty Dog finally confirmed last month that The Last of Us Part 2 would be out on February 21, 2020. However, it seems that just month after that announcement, they are now about to confirm that the game’s getting delayed, as per a report from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.
According to the report, two anonymous sources familiar with the inner workings at Naughty Dog have confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 is now being delayed to Spring 2020, and that Sony will be making an official announcement for the same this week (so keep an eye out over the next couple of days).
Given how packed the first half of 2020 is – with the likes of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs: Legion, Marvel’s Avengers, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Persona 5 Royal, DOOM Eternal (which was also recently delayed), and many others scheduled for launch in that window – this might actually come as a bit of a relief to many (it does to me).
The Last of Us Part 2, according to Naughty Dog, is the biggest game they have ever made, and is roughly 50 per cent bigger than the first game. It also won’t have the Factions multiplayer component of the first game.
