The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Launches on September 1st for PC and Consoles

The Nintendo Switch version is slated to arrive at a later date. New screenshots have also been revealed, showcasing locations like Mirkwood and Mordor.

Daedalic Entertainment has announced that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will launch on September 1st for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. The Nintendo Switch version is set to release at a “later date.”

Taking place during the opening chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring, the story focuses on Gollum who seeks to recover the One Ring. This will take him to a number of locationms, ranging from Bard-dûr and Mirkwood to Mordor (which can be seen in the new screenshots below). Since Gollum isn’t the strongest character, he must rely on stealth, agility, platforming and his wits to survive.

Perhaps most interesting is the ability to make decisions that lean towards the Smeagol personality or the Gollum personality. The former is more empathetic while the latter is all about violence and cruelty. Which side ultimately wins out will depend on the player. Stay tuned for more details on the game in the coming months.
