The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to Nintendo’s newest system, much to the surprise of many. With a project like this, you can imagine there was a lot of difficulties in getting the intensive game down to Nintendo’s hybrid, but according to the game’s original developers, CD Projekt RED, it wasn’t the challenge you’d expect.
In an interview with VGC, UI coordinator Alvin Liu spoke highly of the port. It’s being developed by Saber Interactive, but CD Projekt RED is working closely with the studio to make sure the game is preserved in the conversion. Liu says that CDPR are “proud” of the port, and doesn’t seem to mind the visual downgrade all that much. He actually said the biggest change for the downport was the controls and interface, and how they had to be changed up for the Switch.
“You’ll get the full Witcher 3 and all expansions,” he said. “We’re not really cutting anything. The biggest changes that we made involve the user interface and how you interact is a bit different on the Switch compared to other versions.
“I think if this is your first experience with The Witcher 3, then you’re going to be really thrilled and enjoy it. Our company is pretty proud of what we’ve accomplished.”
The Witcher 3: Complete Edition will release on the Switch some time this year. If you’re curious about how the game will look, the company recently released some screenshots of the game for you to check out.
