After a couple of leaks in the lead up to E3 2019, Nintendo confirmed during their E3 Direct presentation that yes, The Witcher 3 – CD Projekt RED’s seminal open world RPG, among the best games of this generation – is indeed coming to the Switch.
But of course, ever since the leak first popped up, the question that’s been on everybody’s lips is- how is this even possible. The base PS4 and Xbox One struggled to run the game when it first launched, and the Switch is considerably less powerful than both of them. So how is it even running the game?
Not very well, apparently. Over on Twitter, The Witcher’s official handle confirmed that The Witcher 3 will run at 720p on the Switch when the system is docked, with dynamic resolution enabled. Meanwhile, if you choose to play in handheld mode, it’ll run at 540p.
But hey, at least you get to play The Witcher 3 on the go. It launches on the Switch some time later this year. No exact release date has yet been announced.
