The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Dev Has “No Plans” for Other Modding Tools

The currently available ModKit - and not RedKit 2 - is all modders can currently get.

CD Projekt RED released its official ModKit for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, fulfilling the needs of fans everywhere to ride a unicorn version of Roach while dressing Geralt however they want. There’s a problem though – this isn’t RedKit 2 by any means. The developer already revealed that it wasn’t an editor and was meant for more established modders.

However, when you consider that many anticipated the ability to create new story missions or content a la Skyrim, it’s easy to see why most fans are upset. Heck, The Witcher 2 received RedKit tools and it was great.

Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any plan to release the full RedKit 2 for modders. This was revealed by community manager Marcin Momot on Twitter.

“This is the mod support for the Wild Hunt. At this moment we are not planning to release anything else.”

It’s unfortunate for sure, but considering how the base game is and how good the developer has been with support (especially with its free DLCs like the upcoming New Game+), it’s not the end of the world. Hopefully plans change somewhere down the road though.
