The Witcher Series Has Collectively Sold Over 50 Million Units

The series has been enjoying strong and steady sales.

The Witcher has been crucial to CD Projekt’s meteoric success in recent years, and the franchise continues to be top performer for the company from a commercial standpoint. They recently announced that The Witcher series has collectively sold over 50 million copies worldwide. This is up from 33 million just two years ago, which means that the series has continued to enjoy impressive sales.

Via their official investor relations account, CD Projekt also stated that their revenue in Q1 2020 hit 193 million PLN, which is almost 2.5 times the revenue they posted in the first quarter of 2019. According to CD Projekt, the strong sales of The Witcher 3 were hugely responsible for this, while other releases – such as Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales on the Switch and GWENT on Android devices – also contributed.

The Witcher 3 saw a massive boost in sales towards the end of last year, thanks to the Switch port as well as the renewed worldwide interest in the property after the Netflix series debuted, so it’s not surprising to see the game continuing to sell well even now.

CD Projekt RED are currently working on Cyberpunk 2077, which is due out this September, but have confirmed that the next game they work on will be new Witcher entry.
