This Is What Happens When You Don’t Play Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain For A While

The dog is a nice touch.

We’ve heard an awful lot about secret scenes that are hidden inside Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain and while most of those secret scenes are still hidden, we are seeing some secrets pop out of the woodwork here and there. One of those secret areas was apparently not ever supposed to be revealed and was only found thanks to a glitch in the game. A new cutscene that was just recently revealed was supposed to be seen eventually, though it appears it was only supposed to found after a specific period of time.

The new cutscene in which Snake returns to the Motherbase and is greeted warmly by his dog and his closest friend. It turns out that this particular scene was only meant for people who set the game aside for quite a while. It appears the game actually uses your system’s internal clock that logs when you last played, and when you’ve been gone for a a few days, it brings this cutscene, as though you really were Snake and you were finally returning to base.

You can also access this scene by setting your system’s clock ahead, as evidenced by the video, since no one has been able to leave the game alone that long yet. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom pain was released on September 1. Obviously, the video isn’t all that important to the greater story, but it does show just how hard Konami and Kojima worked to make this an incredibly immersive game. Check out the video below of this new special cutscene from Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
