Turn 10 Studios Doesn’t Want to Make a “Hardcore Simulation Racer”

Games like Forza Motorsport 5 are to "attract more people to racing".

Despite the presence of realistic physics, real-world cars and photo-realistic visuals, Forza Motorsport 5 isn’t Turn 10 Studios’ attempt at a hardcore racing simulator. Dan Greenawalt, who directed Forza 3, stated the same in a recent interview and that instead, the developer is looking at creating an emotional connection to the cars and tracks.

“If you’re asking will we ever make a hardcore simulation racer, the answer is no. If you’re asking will we try to attract more people to racing by blending gaming with racing, the answer is yes.”

Forza Motorsport 5 is currently slated to release for the Xbox One when it launches on November 22nd worldwide. Along with a rich selection of cars and tracks, it also features the Drivatar system which uses Cloud computing for creating an AI racer which uses your behaviour and mannerisms to race online when you’re not connected. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the release date for the same.
