In the wake of the latest Nintendo Direct, Digital Extremes announced that its free to play co-op action title Warframe would be heading to the Switch on November 20th. The port is handled by Panic Button, who also ported Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus and DOOM to the platform. Check out the trailer below.
The real high point of the announcement is that Nintendo Switch Online will not be required to play the game, just like with Fortnite: Battle Royale and Paladins. Players will have access to over 30 Frames, numerous planets, cinematic quests, and other features, like the open world Plains of Eidolon. Time will tell how optimized the performance is for Switch.
Digital Extremes is currently working on several major updates for Warframe, including Fortuna, the next open world set on Venus, and Railjack, a co-op space dogfighting mode that’s a first for the series. The release date for both these modes is unknown, though Fortuna arrives later this year.
