“We Are Working on Expansions,” Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Assures

"I cannot tell you anything about our future plans, but I can assure you that we are working on expansions," says quest director Pawel Sasko.

CD Projekt RED recently confirmed that it had started development on the next mainline The Witcher game, but though the Polish developer is ready to begin building toward its future, there’s still work to be done on Cyberpunk 2077. In recent livestream (via TheGamer), quest director Pawel Sasko provided assurances to fans that CDPR is very much aware of that.

Sasko said that the development team is actively working on Cyberpunk 2077’s expansions, and that even following the recent launch of update 1.5 for the game (which brought about several improvements, as well as native current-gen support), there are still improvements that the studio is looking to make to the game based on players feedback.

“I cannot tell you anything about our future plans,” Sasko said. “But I can assure you that we are working on expansions – we’re working on stuff for you guys.”

“We’re still improving the game, because we are all aware that there is work to be done,” he added. “We’re very happy you guys liked 1.5, and that gives us more…incentive to work for you guys because you show your appreciation for it.

“That’s as much as I can tell you. We are working on stuff for you. Like I’m literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening.”

CD Projekt RED hasn’t provided a specific roadmap for how it plans on supporting Cyberpunk 2077. Prior to its launch, the developer said that it’s post-launch support would be similar to that of The Witcher 3, suggesting that it’ll receive two full-fledged paid expansions and free multiple DLC drops.

How many expansions the game will have hasn’t yet been confirmed, but the first expansion’s development has been underway for some time. Meanwhile, while CD Projekt RED will be using Unreal Engine 5 for its future projectsCyberpunk 2077’s expansions will, of course, still be using the developer’s own REDengine.
