Wolfenstein: Youngblood was recently confirmed to be launching day and date on the Nintendo Switch as well, simultaneously with all other versions of the shooter, continuing Bethesda’s excellent support of Nintendo’s hybrid system. However, it seems like when it does launch, its physical release won’t come with a cartridge, but instead with a download code.
The game’s Switch version page over on GameStop (via Nintendo Everything) that the package won’t include cartridge, and will instead come with a download code for the game, which obviously requires an internet connection. This seems to apply to both, the Standard Edition, as well as the Deluxe Edition. At this point, one has to wonder- why even bother with a physical release?
Wolfenstein: Youngblood launches on July 26 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and of course, Nintendo Switch. The game’s Switch version is being handled by Panic Button, who were also responsible for porting DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to Nintendo’s platform. Meanwhile, if you’re on PC and don’t care about physical releases, Bethesda recently announced that Youngblood, along with all of their other upcoming releases, will launch on Steam as well.
