According to a recent statistical study, it seems that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was officially the best selling home console in the UK for the year of 2013. The data comes from Chart-Track, a UK based statistical analysis firm which determined that the Xbox 360 beat every other console including next gen, but also showed that the Nintendo 3DS, which is not a console, came out on top overall.
As far as the other placements went, the PlayStation 4 came in third place overall, and very surprisingly was followed closely by the PlayStation 3. Fifth place went to to the just-released Xbox One. It’s quite surprising that the Xbox 360 should get second place when its progeny was fifth overall after a non-next gen competitor.
Equally fascinating as far as the number one spot goes is that initial sales of the 3DS went down by a whopping 69.9% but were then counteracted by the launch of the 3DS XL as well as the 2DS, which brought sales up by 51%.
