Xbox Game Pass Has Some More “Strong Announcements” – Phil Spencer

"Our investment in Game Pass and that portfolio continues to be strong," says the Xbox boss.

Despite Halo Infinite’s recent delay, Microsoft isn’t slowing down with its launch of the Xbox Series X. Along with discussing the decision to delay 343 Industries’ shooter, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said outright that the console’s launch plans haven’t changed. He noted the continued investment in Game Pass and teased some “really great, strong announcements to come.”

Speaking on the most recent episode of Gary Whitta’s Animal Talking on Twitch, Spencer said, “The positive for us, both through the May showcase and the Summer and the July showcase has been the rise of importance for us in Game Pass. Our investment in Game Pass and that portfolio continues to be strong.

“We’ve got some more…really great, strong, announcements to come about things…coming to Game Pass.” One has to wonder what those announcements could be but Spencer does temper expectations a bit.

“What you’ll see from us around the launch of the console, frankly, isn’t going to change too much because you were going to hear a lot about the console and a lot about Game Pass and how we think those two things together are a real great value proposition for gamers going into the next generation.” This fits into the recent announcement of the Xbox Series X’s release date, which promised “thousands of games to play, spanning four generations.”

The Xbox Series X launches this November. A leaked warranty for the Xbox Series X controller seems to indicate a release on November 6th. With Halo Infinite’s delay, the launch line-up now consists of titles like Call of the Sea, The Ascent, Tetris Effect: Connected and Yakuza: Like Dragon. Microsoft will also apparently offer another big reason to invest in Game Pass soon. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks to see if anything else is added.
