Microsoft’s Xbox One managed to outsell competitors Nintendo Switch and the PS4 over Black Friday in the UK, in spite of sales for it being lower than they were over Black Friday last year. As GamesIndustry reports, over 100,000 Xbox One consoles were sold, with the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition proving to be the most successful SKU. Its sales, in fact, also saw the games it comes bundled with shoot up in the weekly UK software charts.
The Switch was the second-placed console, but reportedly by a very small margin. Retail deals and bundles (and the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, no doubt) saw the system amassing impressive sales. In fact, based on revenue and not on units sold, the Switch actually placed No. 1, owing to the prices it was sold at being higher than the Xbox One’s. The Switch also had an extremely successful Black Friday weekend over in the US.
The PS4 sold over 60,000 units, trailing the other two by a significant margin, with FIFA 20 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bundles driving sales. Sales for both the PS4 and the Xbox One were down year-over-year, while year-to-date sales for both are also expectedly down. The Switch, meanwhile, continues to climb.
