Black Friday reigned supreme over the weekend. UKIE and Gfk report (via GamesIndustry.biz) that 1.3 million games were sold at retail which is 22 percent lower than last year. Still, it helped propel the likes of FIFA 20 to top the charts across all formats. And though consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One saw a decrease in games sold, the Nintendo Switch saw 361,967 games sold which is up by 44 percent compared to last year.
As for FIFA 20, its biggest strength was a bundle with the PS4. It saw an increase of sales by 226 percent week-on-week. Next up was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare whose sales were up by 86 percent, followed by Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which saw a 32 percent week-on-week increase.
The biggest surprise is perhaps Sea of Thieves which went from 23rd place to fourth place in sales. It was included in the Xbox One S All-Digital console bundles which saw steep discounts. This also explains Minecraft’s rise in the charts at fifth place – it was included in the same bundles.
