Xbox Will Be At E3 2020, Confirms Phil Spencer

Sony drops out, but Microsoft will still be at the conference.

Last year Sony skipped the E3 conference, something that sent shockwaves through the industry as E3 has been seen as something of a commercial spearhead for gaming for well over a decade. Many assumed that with the PS5 releasing this holiday season, Sony would definitely show up this year to promote their next console. But it seems Sony plans to once again skip the conference, saying they will instead focus on hundreds of “consumer events” around the world. What that means for E3 probably isn’t too good, but while Sony is dropping out again, it seems Microsoft is reconfirming their slot at the show.

In a tweet from Xbox Head Phil Spencer, he firmly states that Xbox will be at E3, saying he and the many teams under the Xbox umbrella look forward to showing off their work for fans at the event. He mentions nothing else specifically.

Microsoft also has a new console coming out for the holidays, the Xbox Series X, so it seems that the company has a chance to highlight it on one of the biggest stages in the industry without a lot of direct mind share competition. We’ll see how things pan out as we get closer to the event, which will begin on June 9th.
