Battlefield 2042 Has an “Undisclosed” Multiplayer Mode Developed by DICE LA, To be Revealed at EA Play Live

"The experience that DICE LA specifically is building is this love letter to our long-term players and fans," says Battlefield 2042 design director Daniel Berlin.

Battlefield 2042 has been officially unveiled, along with the surprising news that the game is going to be multiplayer-only experience. But though there is no single player campaign this time, DICE is promising the series’ most ambitious online experience yet. Breakthrough and Conquest are returning, while a new mode called Hazard Zone has also been confirmed. In addition to that, the game is also going to have an additional, as-of-yet-undisclosed mode.

This mode is being developed by the Vince Zampella-led DICE LA, who were confirmed to be working on Battlefield earlier this year. In press release, EA teased this multiplayer experience, described the mode as “another exciting new game-type for the franchise” and “a love letter to Battlefield fans and one that long-time players will feel right at home with.” It will be unveiled at EA Play Live on July 22.

Battlefield 2042 is out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 22. It’s been confirmed that it will cost $70 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
