We finally have the reason why Battlefield 4 looked so crispy and almost like a CG video. The demo showcased during the official reveal featured 17 minutes of gameplay and the graphics were simply out of this world.
DICE’s Patrick Bach has revealed the reason for the visual fidelity. It was apparently running at 3k resolution.
“It was a decent PC, yes. But you can still buy it, so it’s not like alien technology or anything,” he said to CVG. “It’s still a PC that you can buy and it’s still unoptimised code. Another thing that you might not have realised is that we ran it at 3K resolution at 60fps, and you don’t do that. Nobody talked about pixels because at that size you couldn’t see them.”
That explains why the demo was fantastic. Missed it? Check it out here. The demo was running on dual 7990 AMD GPU.
