DICE has finally revealed a lot of details on Battlefield 4 and we also have a 17 minute gameplay video showing how the game has been put together. Needless to say, the graphics, sounds, everything else on offer here is sublime and looks like a worthy upgrade over Battlefield 3.
The interesting news here is that the game runs on Frostbite 3 engine, and not 2. It wasn’t revealed earlier or officially but DICE has mentioned that Battlefield 4 will be running on it. Just when you thought EA has been transitioning all their games to Frostbite 2, we have an evolution of that technology. So far only one game uses the engine.
The gameplay trailer shows some campaign footage and it seems to be set in China. We also have some screenshots from the game and have a hard time distinguishing it from CG.
The PC version of the game will support 64 players, and the current gen consoles will support 24. It’s not clear what the next-gen consoles will do but considering the RAM on the PS4 and probably Xbox 720, 64 players should be possible. It has also been revealed that the next-gen consoles will be limited to 720p resolution, and run at 60 fps.
The maps are based on real world locations and haven’t been confirmed yet although you can check out their names below.
- Tiananmen
- Diaoyu Island
- Shanghai Bund
- Xizhimen
There are also rumoured DLC maps for the game.
- Wake Island
- Dalian Plant
- Daqing Oilfields
- Great Wall
There was also a teaser trailer leaked and it is just a glimpse of the video we have posted above but features music from Rihanna.
