In June of last year, nearly two years on from its initial launch, Borderlands 3 added support for full cross-platform play on all platforms it was available on- except PlayStation. It was revealed at the time by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford that cross-play in Borderlands 3 had been blocked on PS5 and PS4.
Recently, it was announced that upcoming Borderlands spinoff Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands would launch with full cross-play across all platforms, PlayStation included, with Pitchford saying that the process would soon get underway for Borderlands as well.
That’s now been confirmed by 2K Games as well, with 2K saying that cross-play will be added to Borderlands 3 on PS5 and PS4 “in the future”, allowing players on the platforms to play with and against those on Xbox, PC, and Stadia.
Exactly when this change will be enacted hasn’t yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is launching for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 25.
