Cyberpunk 2077 Developer Has “No Plans” for Xbox Game Pass Launch

Contrary to recent rumours, CD Projekt RED clarifies that there are currently no plans to bring the action RPG to Xbox Game Pass.

To say that hype surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 has plummeted as compared to this time last year is a bit of an understatement, and given all the negativity surrounding the game, it follows that not a great many people are going to be rushing out to go and buy a copy of the action RPG. So is it possible that CD Projekt RED might be looking at other ways to bring players in?

Recent rumblings certainly seemed to suggest that. An eagle-eyed Reddit user spotted glimpse of CD Projekt RED’s open world action RPG in the recent ad for Xbox Cloud Gaming’s console launch, and given the fact that the service exclusively streams games that are available on Xbox Game Pass, many assumed (understandably so) that that meant Cyberpunk 2077 was headed to Microsoft’s subscription service.

It seems, however, that that isn’t the case. In a statement to VGC, CD Projekt RED spokesperson said that “there are no Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077.” Of course, that doesn’t mean that there’s no chance of that ever happening- but at least for now, it seems like the Polish developer isn’t considering a Game Pass launch for its troubled RPG. This, of course, is something that CDPR has been maintaining since several months before the game even launched, so perhaps it’ll be a while before the developer changes its mind here.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. The game will also be getting native releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S next year, while further updates and expansions are also planned for 2022. Read more on that through here.
