Disappointed that Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep, the next big expansion in Bungie’s shared world shooter series, has been delayed? Don’t worry – as promised several weeks ago, the developer will provide tons of information in the meantime. Director Luke Smith said on Twitter that there will be a State of the Game post next week addressing upcoming features.
Described as being “likely very long, somewhat-to-very nerdy”, the post will look back at the past six months and outline “the kind of changes we’re making to the game in Shadowkeep and why.” We know a bit about some of those changes, like Armor 2.0 which will allow for more customization (along with bringing back Intelligence, Discipline and Strength as stats). There are also Seasonal Artifacts which confer game-changing effects to abilities and classes.
Even though Shadowkeep’s scope is more in line with Destiny 1’s Rise of Iron, Bungie is clearly making a ton of changes to the core game. Throw in the usual balance patches – especially those potentially coming before Shadowkeep – and Destiny 2 could end up looking very, very different from how it is now. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and New Light will be out on October 1st for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
