Destiny 2 – Year 5 Dungeons Require Separate Purchase, The Witch Queen Digital Deluxe Edition

Bungie has confirmed that the upcoming new dungeons won't be included with the base expansion or Season Passes.

With Bungie’s 30th anniversary coming up, Destiny 2 will be receiving a new paid dungeon which pays tribute to the classic Loot Cave from Destiny 1. However, there was some confusion over other dungeons coming in Year 5, which begins when The Witch Queen launches in February 2022. Usually, dungeons are included with Season Passes or the expansion in question (see: Pit of Heresy for Shadowkeep).

However, that won’t be the case for next year. Community manager Cozmo commented on Reddit that the next two dungeons require owning The Witch Queen’s Digital Deluxe Edition. “If you get the Digital Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen you will receive the expansion, all four Seasons for the next year, and the two Dungeons. If you get the Standard Edition, you can still upgrade to the Deluxe Edition to get the dungeons later.”

Interestingly, Bungie will also offer a “separate way” to purchase dungeons in “the future” but they won’t be included in the Season Passes. So if you just want The Witch Queen but don’t care about the seasonal content, then you should be able to purchase the dungeons separately. The value proposition doesn’t make much sense though and given the subreddit’s response, its users are less than happy about the decision (especially since other paid content like Forsaken is being vaulted).

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is out on February 22nd 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia.
