DOOM Eternal Features In-Game Events to Earn Online Rewards

A bevy of skins, weapon skins, and other collectibles will be available for players who go online.

With all the talk behind the single-player campaign in DOOM Eternal, one has to wonder about multiplayer. Though BattleMode has been detailed prior, the shooter has a lot more going for it in terms of online functionality. In a new video, executive producer Marty Stratton and game director Hugo Martin break down some of these features.

Essentially, if you connect online, then experience earned from the Campaign and Battle Mode will go towards unlocking skins, weapon skins, nameplates, figures and so on. In-game events will also be available though what they could entail wasn’t revealed. The catch is that you need to be online with a Bethesda.net account to track event progress and claim those rewards.

Without an internet connection, modes like BattleMode, event progression and Invasion (which is available after launch) can’t be accessed. The single-player Campaign is still very much available though and it seems that all of the recently revealed alternate skins can still be unlocked by simply playing the game. DOOM Eternal releases on March 20th for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
