DOOM Eternal was always going to be Bethesda’s centrepiece at their E3 2019 press event – it’s the one game by them that everyone is looking forward to more than anything else – and the company did not disappoint. Right at the end of their showing, they dedicated a huge chunk of time to the upcoming first person shooter, showing, first, a new trailer, followed by a full fledged gameplay demonstration.
The gameplay demonstration is what everyone will be most interested in, understandably, and it’s exactly what you’d expect to see from DOOM- it’s bloody, brutal, and messy, full of pumping shooting, some excellent displays of the game’s new mobility, looks at its hellish landscapes, and much more. There’s a lot to take in, but if you’re looking forward to the game, you’re going to want to take a look.
A multiplayer mode for DOOM Eternal was also revealed. Called Battle Mode, it’s being made by id Software internally (unlike DOOM 2016’s multiplayer). It’s a 2v1 mode, which sees one player controlling the Doom Slayer, and two others controlling demons, and both teams duking it out over the course of three rounds. More information will be coming later in the year at QuakeCon.
The zinger came right before the Battle Mode reveal though, when Bethesda announced that DOOM Eternal would launch on November 22 later this year. The game will be out on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. Take a look at the game’s full E3 showcase presentation below.
