2020 is a packed year for video game releases, but just the first few days have been packed full of delays for major games due out in the coming 12 months. The next one to take the hit is Techland’s open world post-apocalypse horror title Dying Light 2.
Originally scheduled for a Spring 2020 release, developers have now confirmed in a message by CEO Paweł Marchewka shared on Twitter that the game has now been delayed. No reason is given, other than the studio wanting to “deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and to the expectations of you, our fans.”
Meanwhile, the message doesn’t mention an exact (new) release date or window either, but does say that Techland will be sharing more details in the coming months.
Dying Light 2 is currently announced for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but the developers have also confirmed that they’ve planned for the get-go to develop it as cross-gen release. Meanwhile, once the game does launch, they’re apparently going to support it with post-launch content for years more.
As mentioned earlier, Dying Light 2 is far from the only major upcoming game to get delayed in the last few days. While Final Fantasy 7 Remake was recently pushed back by just month, others like Marvel’s Avengers, Marvel’s Iron Man VR, and most notably, Cyberpunk 2077, have all suffered significant delays.
