Fable Narrative Lead is Stepping Away from Role in August

"I’ve had several wonderful years scribbling away in my fairy tale cottage, but the time feels right for new challenges," Megill says.

Playground Studios finally released new trailer last month for Fable, its reboot of Lionhead’s action RPG series, teasing a twist on Jack and the Beanstalk. Lead lighting artist Lukas Koelz later confirmed after the showing that it was entirely in-game and captured on Xbox Series X.

There haven’t been any further updates, but narrative lead Anna Megill has confirmed that she will be stepping away from her role in August. “I’ve had several wonderful years scribbling away in my fairy tale cottage, but the time feels right for new challenges.”

Megill joined Playground Games as the lead writer for Fable in 2021 and was promoted to Narrative Lead in 2022. She’s known for working on Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, The Division 2, and Control. While it doesn’t seem like Megill is leaving Playground Games, her stepping away from this role is interesting when she revealed last February, “I’ve worked here 2 years, and I’m still happy.”

Time will tell if this means anything for the game, so stay tuned. Fable is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It doesn’t have a release date, but rumors claim it’s “miles away” compared to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and Avowed.
