As much as we’d like for it to happen, free next-gen upgrades of cross-gen releases just haven’t been an industry-wide norm since the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last November. But even though some publishers (most significantly, the likes of Sony and Activision) have been making questionable pricing decisions, others have been offering free next-gen upgrades on a consistent basis.
One of those is Ubisoft, who will continue to do so with their upcoming releases. Far Cry 6 was confirmed as supporting free upgrades to the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S version for those who purchase the game on PS4 and Xbox One respectively, and Ubisoft recently took to Twitter to reiterate that, yes, that will indeed be the case. Ubisoft has, of course, offered free next-gen upgrades for other major releases as well, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion, so here’s hoping they continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Far Cry 6 launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on October 7. Check out its PC requirements through here.
