The Coalition’s Gears 5 is out soon and impressions of the campaign, among other things, are being circulated. We’ve seen and heard about a number of changes coming to the traditional formula, especially with Horde. Its Hero characters will be able to upgrade their skill cards during a match and can even deploy devastating Ultimates against foes.
Those finding it easy can opt for tougher challenges with modifiers, as per VG247. There will be seven maps at launch for Versus and Horde, and each map has their own skill modifiers to help provide some variety. New maps will be added for free post-launch as pat of the seasonal Operations. New modifiers and characters will also be added along with more customization options (which can be interpreted as different skill cards).
Overall, it’s a good initiative to hang around Horde if Versus doesn’t appeal to you. Much like how Escape has a Map Builder to allow other players to supplant it with content, here’s hoping the various skill card builds and modifiers can add to the gameplay rather than supersede it. Gears 5 is out on September 10th for Xbox One and PC.
