The Coalition finally took the wraps off of Gears 5’s Horde Mode, its famous co-op PvE mode that influenced a generation of shooter. It’ll look pretty familiar in the new game as players set up defenses, fight off hordes of foes and survive until the next wave. Check it out below. You might notice some familiar enemies, like Brumaks and Berserkers.

There are lots of new additions. Characters have Ultimates which can significantly shift the balance. Kait can turn invisible and execute enemies; JD Fenix can call in an airstrike; and Fahz has X-Ray for seeing and shooting enemies through walls. You’ll also be shifting bases throughout, tapping into different power sources throughout the battle.

Each character has different cards which are essentially perks. These can be upgraded with Power throughout the fight. In a nice quality of life change, Power is now shared among all players so everyone is upgrading and grower stronger with the fight. Gears 5 is out on September 10th for Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for the debut of campaign gameplay at Gamescom Opening Night Live at 11 AM PDT.
