Though the upcoming Ghost Recon Breakpoint serves as a direct narrative sequel to 2017’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, it’s still looking to deviate from its predecessor’s formula a fair bit. From loot-based gameplay to significantly altered post-launch plans, Breakpoint is looking to take the series into a new direction- and its setting, the Auroa archipelago, is emblematic of that.
In a new video (courtesy of IGN), the developers of the game speak of the game’s setting, and how it veers more into science fiction elements as opposed to Wildlands’ Bolivia. Ubisoft have, with Breakpoint, tried balance fantasy and realism, and in this video, they speak of the ways they will leverage the fictional location’s advantages to their fullest. It’s also looking like much more varied environment- though considering the fact that the game’s first endgame raid takes place in a volcano, we could have guessed that by ourselves just fine. The developers also say, as they have said before, that Auroa is going to be as big as Wildlands’ Bolivia. Take a look below.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is out on October 4 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
