The introduction of raids was a "natural progression", says Ubisoft's Sebastien Leprestre.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint (10)

Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of Ghost Recon Wildlands, Ubisoft Paris does have quite a bit to offer in Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The game, in fact, will be expanded further post-launch, when the developer adds new story missions, classes, and raids. Raids are new for the series, and it seems the first will be quite eventful, taking place in a volcano.

Raid environments were teased during the reveal stream, but PCGamesN learned more about the same at an event. The raid will feature a base within the volcano and marks a fairly big departure from the rest of Auroa. As for what inspired the raids, lead dev test Sebastien Leprestre said, “This is just the natural progression for us. We’re committed to many years of post-launch with this game, so it seemed natural to us that we should give a lot more challenge to those hardcore players who really want to invest in the universe.”

The announcement certainly comes at an interesting time, since another Ubisoft shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, will also have raids. The first is Operation: Dark Hours, and it’s set to go live after the next title update, which lands this month. As for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, it releases on October 4th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
