Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 is out on March 15th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Before that, previous-gen players have the opportunity to migrate their Story Mode progress and Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression, starting today. This will be a one-time migration process for each.
For Story Mode, simply open Grand Theft Auto 5 on your current console, go to the “Game” tab in the Pause Menu and select “Upload Game Save.” Only one game save can be stored per platform and these will be available for 90 days. For Grand Theft Auto Online players, they only need to load the game on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S once it goes live on those platforms.
Migrated save data includes characters, GTA$, stats, vehicles, weapons, clothing, player-created jobs and progression. Note that any GTA$ that have been purchased can only be migrated from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S. Pre-purchasing and pre-loads for Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online go live on March 8th with physical releases coming in April. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
