Hitman 3 Developer Diary Discusses the Game’s Greater Emphasis on Storytelling

IO Interactive talks about crafting the narrative of the trilogy's conclusion.

The biggest draw of the Hitman games has always been their systemic, emergent stealth gameplay, their emphasis on player choice and experimentation, and the expertly crafted sandboxes that they deliver with each and every one of their missions. A certain sect of series fans, however, has also been enjoying the story that this new trilogy has been telling.

Though that’s an aspect that’s certainly taken a bit of a backseat, there definitely is an interesting story to follow for those who wish to invest in it, and appropriately enough for a game that’s bringing this trilogy to a close, IO Interactive have aimed to put a greater emphasis on storytelling in Hitman 3 than ever.

In a newly released developer diary, IO Interactive devs talk about that, discussing the game’s darker tone and aligning that tone in both storytelling and gameplay, the larger emphasis the game puts on story, and more. Check it out below.

Hitman 3 is out on January 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia, as well as for Nintendo Switch as a cloud-exclusive release.
