Life Is Strange 2 Is Being Kickstarted By Someone Other Than Dontnod

This is one of the stranger Kickstarters we've seen recently.

Those who loved Life is Strange and were hoping for a sequel likely got pretty excited when they saw a recent Kickstarter campaign. However it turns out the fundraising campaign for Life is Strange 2 isn’t being done by anyone who is actually tied to the original title. The person who launched the recent campaign is just a very large fan of the game who desperately wants to see where the story would go if there was a sequel.

The five chapter adventure game came to an end when the final piece was released on October 20. Now Scott Ashby wants to bring another game along the same lines as the original anyway he can. Ashby makes it no secret that he isn’t a part of Dontnod and that he hasn’t gotten any sort of guarantee the company would make another game even if the Kickstarter succeeded. The fan wants to find a way to raise $20,000 as a kind of enticement to the developer.

Ashby has said if he can’t get the original Life is Strange developers to agree to make Life is Strange 2 he wants to buy the IP and hire another company to work on the game. Despite the fact that Ashby himself is not a developer, he has come up with some goals for the campaign. $2,000 will allow backers to voice a character in the new game while $1,000 will allow backers to write the backstory for one of the characters.

Dontnod hasn’t announced any plans to develop Life is Strange 2.
