Todd Howard is a busy man. He’s wrapped up the bulk of his work on Starfield, but has also already moved on to the next game he’s directing, which is The Elder Scrolls 6. Beyond that, however, he’s also executive producing MachineGames’ Indiana Jones title. And according to Howard, we’ll be hearing more about it sometime next year.
Speaking in a recent interview with Esquire, briefly touching on the Indiana Jones game, though Howard was reluctant to give out too many details, he suggested that the title could be formally unveiled sometime in 2024, saying, “We’ll talk next year.”
Vaguely, Howard also suggested that MachineGames’ take on the Indiana Jones property will be a “unique” one, something he’s also suggested before, and that something the team has been focused on during development is ensuring that the experience feels separate from an Indiana Jones movie.
“I am a giant Indiana Jones fan,” he said. “It can be brought to video games in a unique way. The game is obviously: you’re exploring stuff. It’s about him. So if you’re playing the game, how do you feel that you are indeed playing versus just watching?”
A little over a couple of years ago, the game was said to be in “very, very early production”, though given the fact that it’s now been over two and half years since its announcement, one would presume that a full reveal sometime in 2024 wouldn’t be completely out of the question.
Previously, it’s been confirmed that MachineGames’ Indiana Jones title is based on an original story written by Todd Howard, while recent leaks have also claimed that it will feature both first and third person gameplay.
Earlier this year, Bethesda confirmed that Indiana Jones will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.
