Marvel’s Avengers Seemingly Requires “One-Time Online Access” For Single Player Campaign

It seems you'll need online even if you're going solo.

Yesterday saw a big blowout of information for Marvel’s Avengers. We got to see a new piece of the story that opened up who the main villains will be for the game as well as how the Avengers get back together, and the online mode and how co-op will function. More is sure to come as we get closer to release, but it seems a new detail has slipped out that may make some of the solo players twitch.

Not long after yesterday’s presentation, the PSN listing for the game updated to show that the game will require an “one-time online access required for single-player campaign.” It’s probably not too surprising, considering the bulk of the game is seemingly going to be in its online, but if you prefer to buy physical and not connect your system online, it looks like you’ll have to bite the bullet for this one, if you do decide you just want to jump in and enjoy the story.

Marvel’s Avengers will launch September 4th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
