Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake Moves into “Production Readiness” Stage

Remedy Entertainment confirms that its combined remake of the original Max Payne titles has made further progress behind the scenes.

The long-awaited Alan Wake 2 is out now, and based on the consensus, is very much worth the long wait. Developer Remedy Entertainment, however, has plenty more in the pipeline. In addition to two expansions for the survival horror title that are due out next year, the developer has plenty of other projects in the pipeline as well, and one among them that may be the most prominent among them is continuing to make steady progress behind the scenes.

It was confirmed last year that Remedy and Rockstar were joining forces for a combined remake of Max Payne 1 and 2, and Remedy has now provided an update on its development. In its recent quarterly fiscal report, the Finnish studio confirmed that the title, which was confirmed to be in the proof-of-concept stage of production earlier this year, has now entered the “production readiness” stage. Though it hasn’t yet entered full production, the developer says it has “gained clarity” on its “style and scope”.

Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake progressed into the production readiness stage,” Remedy says. “We have gained clarity on the style and scope of the game, and we have an exceptionally well-organized team working on it. With these accomplishments, we are excited about the project and its future success.”

Currently, not much else is known about Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake, but recently, creative director and writer Sam Lake said that it’s “big project” that will be bringing both original titles “up to modern standards and combining them into one”.

Meanwhile, Remedy Entertainment has also provided an update on the development of Condor, its Control multiplayer spinoff, as well as Control 2. Read more on that through here.
