Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Gets An Alternate Gameplay Demo

Rocket propelled fists for the win.

As promised yesterday, a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has hit the web today. This new trailer underlines one of the key aspects of the game, according to Hideo Kojima. The game’s director said this video is of the same mission Konami showed off at E3 this year but it shows off a different way of going about the mission. Kojima has said that this is kind of an open world Metal Gear Solid that will allow people to play all kinds of missions a ton of different ways.

This demo video is pretty impressive as it walks you through a half hour of gameplay. This is indeed the same content that people saw during E3 but there are enough twists and turns from that demo to show there really are a couple of different ways the game can go. The mission on display is called A Hero’s Way and the varied parts of the mission were changed it really did show what seemed like a pretty different approach to taking down your enemies.

As we get closer and closer to the release of Metal Gear Solid 5, Konami seems to be doing a full court press in order to make sure people know exactly what they are getting if they purchase the game. If there is one drawback to this new gameplay video, it’s that the audio is in Japanese. It seems likely that at some point the company is going to be releasing the same video, only with English audio. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain releases on September 1 for PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The PC version hits September 15.
