Microsoft brought 14 first party games to E3 this year, giving release date for Gears 5, revealing Ninja Theory’s Bleeding Edge, talking more about Halo Infinite, and giving updates for many others like Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Battletoads. One more thing they brought was the reveal for Project Scarlett, the next generation of Xbox.
And apparently, they have a lot of first party games waiting in the wings that they’re going to talk about next year, when they reveal Scarlett in full (take heart, those who were waiting for a Fable 4 reveal). Recently, in an interview with Eurogamer, Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty got to talking about Microsoft’s lineup of games – both first and third party – at E3 this year.
“We showed up with 60 games on stage, 14 of which were from Xbox Game Studios,” said Booty. “We need to pause and give some recognition to the studios which, less than a year after we did the acquisition, we’re already seeing things on our stage. Equally, I’m excited for the things waiting in the wings. We have a lot of stuff we did not show. Stuff which, as you say, will be coming online as we get further into this.”
“We have 14 games here from Xbox Game Studios but we’re not emptying the tank, getting everything we’ve got and just throwing it on stage,” he added.
When asked if we’re going to be in for some bigger reveals next year to go alongside the Xbox Scarlett reveal, Booty suggested that that will indeed be the case.
“Like I said… a lot of great stuff waiting in the wings for next year. Hope to have you back in a year.”
Oh well, I guess it’s time to start counting down to E3 2020.
