343 Industries’ Halo Infinite received an extensive new trailer. It wasn’t exactly gameplay, but it did outline a horrible tragedy that’s befallen humanity. And then, before you know it, Master Chief arrives out of nowhere. What’s happened, and where is the UNSC? Check out the trailer below.

After being told that everything is gone (though the signature Halo ring is still a threat), Master Chief and his new cohort are overcome by some kind of electrical phenomenon. It seems to be a new enemy, so of course Chief decides to go and fight it. Near the end of the trailer, we receive a glimpse of multiple planets, and what seems to be the return of Cortana. Her voice, anyway.

Halo Infinite is out in Holiday 2020 and will be a launch title for Project Scarlett. The next generation console will be powering the expansive worlds and graphical technology inherent in the next Halo. All that’s left now is for this spiritual reboot to deliver a compelling story focused on the Chief. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
