Capcom has announced a free demo for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is out today across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, where the company also confirmed that players can carry over their save data into the full game when it comes out on March 13th.
The demo for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection allows players to create their own character, and offers a taste of the new combat mechanics like the Wyvernsoul Gauge and Synchro Rush. Players can also experience the brand new Habitat Restoration system, which was unveiled back in December.
The trailer announcing the demo recaps the story, which revolves around the long-extinct species of Rathalos somehow returning to the world, and how this is “a harbinger of conflict to come”. Players take on the role of Rangers and are tasked with ensuring the survival of the world around them.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection was announced in July last year, and will take place centuries after the Rift War. Monsters are nearing extinction and the whole land of Vermeil has been in crisis in its attempts to deal with this. Much like the other two entries in the Stories series, Twisted Reflection will bring back the turn-based combat system and monster-befriending mechanics. It will also include elements of the mainline series, allowing players to hunt various monsters to get their hands on crafting materials, which can in turn be used to make brand new equipment.
